TODAY, the Fischetti Cartoon Competition is taking place in the journalism department of Columbia College Chicago. This is its 30th anniversary.
This editorial cartoon competition is one of the most important in the United States and it takes place every year prior to the Pulitzer Prize competition.
Last year, the judges awarded the first place (shown above) to Mike Keefe of the Denver Post. A couple of weeks later, Keefe won the Pulitzer on the Editorial Cartoon category. This is not the first time that Fischetti "predicts" the winner. It also happened in 2008 when Michael Ramírez of the Investor's Business Daily got the Fischetti prize and later the Pulitzer.
